Water Lili & Med Flower


A water lily's roots are buried in water-logged, oxygen-poor mud. Keeping the roots well-supplied with oxygen is necessary for the health of the plant, so water lilies have developed a system of tubes that carry oxygen from the leaves down to the roots. Many of our salt marsh grasses and most aquatic plants have similar systems.
